Who We Are

Lancaster Farm Sanctuary (LFS) was founded in 2017 because of a need in our community for a farm animal sanctuary. It is the mission of LFS to rescue farmed animals and provide them with sanctuary and inspire humans to live with compassion and respect. The purpose of LFS is to reduce animal suffering and lead humanity to a kinder and more sustainable future by connecting the seemingly disparate, but deeply connected issues of animal exploitation, social injustice, human health, and our environment. By connecting with individuals, educating the general public, and collaborating with organizations, LFS works to improve the lives of community members, human and nonhuman alike.

    Executive Director & Co-Founder

    Sarah Salluzzo confounded Lancaster Farm Sanctuary in 2017. She holds an MSW and MA in media studies and previously worked in substance abuse rehabilitation. She now works full-time at LFS as the Executive Director and is the board president.

    Jonina co-founded Lancaster Farm Sanctuary to advance the well-being of humans and animals. She is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and owns a private PT practice in Lancaster City.

    • Suzanne Mckenna

    Treasurer

    Suzanne is a Certified Public Accountant and resides in Philly. She left the public accounting industry after almost 20 years and shifted her focus to the nonprofit sector. She is currently the Director of Finance for a large nonprofit charter school network. Her previous board experience consists of serving as Treasurer for Women in Transition and also for local companion animal rescues. When she is not rescuing cats in Philly or eating at all the vegan restaurants, she enjoys running, swinging kettlebells and the occasional triathlon.

    Board Member

    Kendall is a marketing and development professional with a background in fundraising. She currently works at a marketing agency in Baltimore managing a portfolio of international clients. When she’s not showing off pictures of Jude, you can find her curled up with a book or checking out live music around Lancaster.

    Board Member

    Jen is an environmental specialist, but she considers helping protect animals to be her true life’s work. She has been an animal and nature lover since she was little, but it wasn’t until 2017 that she made the connection to go vegan. Since then, she has been active as an animal rights activist and group organizer, an animal photographer, and an animal rescuer. She spends most of her free time with her adopted fur babies, hiking, and rock climbing.

    Indira is a public health professional focused on the interface between human and animal health. She performs monitoring and evaluation for a vector borne disease training and education center. She’s typically occupied with too many arts and crafts, and has her hands full with her new cat, Pendergreens.

    Board Member
    Kathleen visited LFS for the first time on May 1, 2021 and was so moved by the experience that she became a vegan that same day. She is a lawyer and started her own practice in 2024 so she would have the flexibility to work at LFS part-time as an animal caretaker. In her free time, she loves to cook vegan food, read nonfiction, and putter around the house (with close supervision by her two cats).
