Education To Inspire Change
Since founding the sanctuary in 2017, we have been dedicated to educating our community about farmed animals’ lives and the ethics of care. Through tours, lectures, podcasts, blogs, social media posts, and more we have been working to advance understanding of the need for both rescue and preventative system change on their behalf.
In 2022 we launched two free programs to further this aim— a PenPal exchange with a resident of choice to foster awareness and compassion in elementary-aged children; and a short film / presentation about the critical issues surrounding farmed animals for older teens and adults. We also offer a free community resource guide to a healthy plant-based lifestyle.
Sanctuary Education Program
Ages 16+Education is very important to LFS. We have been educating people for years through our public and private tours, as well as local community events about the far-reaching and devastating impacts of animal agriculture. Our Sanctuary Education Program is specifically designed to educate students 16+ and adults. As part of this prgram we have created a mini documentary to highlight some of the critical ways our work addresses the plight of farmed animals, human health, the climate crisis, and our social justice issues. We are available to present our documentary in person accompanied by a short presentation and interactive discussion in high schools, colleges, community centers, libraries, etc. For more information and to schedule a talk, please contact us!

Sanctuary PenPal Program
Grades K-5Our Sanctuary Pen Pal Program is designed to engage young students with the rescued animal residents of Lancaster Farm Sanctuary. It is an opportunity for students to practice their writing and reading skills while corresponding with an animal resident of their choosing. The students will have the opportunity to learn about the different types of farm animals who call the sanctuary home as well as learn about their unique personalities. The students will receive a photo of their animal friend every month along with a letter written in the animal’s voice. Students will then have the opportunity to write back and ask questions or even draw pictures of their animal pen pal! This age appropriate free program is a great way for students to get connected to and learn about the beautiful and complex farm animal residents of Lancaster Farm Sanctuary.
